With the discovery of the Tamar and Leviathan gas fields off the coast of Israel, the latter the largest field ever discovered in the Mediterranean, foreign attention has turned to Israel, and Barnea & Co.’s advises on many of these issues.

 

Barnea & Co.‘s activity in the gas market covers upstream, midstream and downstream and includes ranges from acting for the State of Israel in the construction of a downstream gas pipeline, representing a stakeholder in Pelagic Gas field (Israel) and the commercialization thereof. The firm has experience in drafting many technical agreements including farmout, exploration, participation and joint development agreements.

Israel’s First Open Call for Bids for Offshore Oil and Natural Gas Explorations

November 2016 marked the first time that the Ministry of Infrastructures and Energy invited an open international call for bids for 24 licenses to 24 blocks (each not exceeding 400 km2) in Israel’s economic waters at a distance of at least 7 kilometers from the shore.
